NEWS: 19 1345 MAY 2002 I just got back from the field at the end of the week, and I'm going back out again Monday. The good news in that is I'm getting to finish the Hennessy Hammock review by researching the military portion. I should be back at the beginning of June. Notes. Search engines still haven't updated to my new site address, and probably won't until the end of June. I've also had some problems with my Yahoo status light showing me on-line when I'm not. The code is correct, I believe the problem is with the Yahoo server which has been having problems recently. Have a good one!
NEWS: 05 1945 MAY 2002 I just read that Earl Shaffer passed away today at 1445. The trail community has lost a legend and a dedicated advocate of the Appalachian Trail. I hope he gets to to the eternal thru-hike where ever he is now. Please visit his web site: The Earl Schaffer Web Page and make a donation to one of the organizations it supports. Thank you. NEWS: 05 1900 MAY 2002 Today I'm just getting ready for work and field next week. I had planned to do the 40 pound Gearskin test today, but I got up late and felt like crap. Too much celebrating at a wedding yesterday I suppose. I'm testing the ability of Front Page to do some word art stuff, so if some things on the site look a little different, don't freak. It may not be permanent.
NEWS: 04 1000 MAY 2002 I just got off the trail a couple of hours ago doing the first trail test of the Moonbow Gearskin. At 30 pounds I was quite impressed. The review is underway and a lot of it has been written already. I need to test the Gearskin at 40 and 50 pounds, then one trip at my real pack weight in some mountains. Although I have some great data so far, I want to wait until it is done to link to the review. Another cool thing I just added is a link to Howard Johnson's Java Stove Weight Calculator. It's still in beta so check it out and send him some feedback.
NEWS: 03 2100 MAY 2002 Another month at the new domain and so far so good. I mailed off the check for the new poncho/tarp to Moonbow. I've also got plans to do some hard walking this weekend with the Gearskin.
All dates are done in military day/time group. Example: 20 1945 OCT 2000 This means 20 (20th day) 1945 (7:45 PM) OCT (October) 2000 (year 2000). Hope this clears up any confusion. |
