In another thread, blackdog posted a link to a product called Aerogel.
Seems to be this crazy lightweight insulation with jaw dropping properties.
So my questions are as follows:
1) How do I get a 1/4" sleeping pad made out of this stuff??!? I want!!
2) It mentions this product is used in extreme climate clothing. Does anyone know of any manufacturers that use aerogel in their clothes? More specific yet, could you get say a shirt and pants set?!?
3) Lastly has anyone ever bought any? and if so just how off the wall would the cost be. I'd be willing to bite the bullet on a few hundred if the stuff is all its cracked up to be.
If you could get a shirt and pant suit with that stuff, you wouldnt need a sleeping bag or quilt etc etc. Just slip on your aerogel p.j.s, air out your stinkable hiking clothes and climb into bed!
Anyone that knows how to get some of this stuff, please pipe up.. and also let me know what you think of it if you have used anything made of this.
