View Full Version : beer from an open source

Had a laugh today as I checked one of my favourite sites, Slashdot (news for nerds). A set of danish students have created the first open source beer. This means that the recipe and method for making it is available on their homepage. Anyone may brew the beer and sell it if there's a reference to the original creators according to the creative common license. Even the label design can be downloaded for free.

The discussion at slashdot mentions that this is a european recipe that creates a beer that is richer in taste than the normal american variants, and that it should be enjoyed only slightly chilled like a fine wine, not almost frozen. My guess is that the project will produce a recipe for american tastebuds quite soon. Until then it's free beer european style.

PS. The recipe is for roughly 85 liters...

Schweet! 85 liters would have held my old squad for a couple hours back in the day :-)

Beer with a CC licence---ya gotta love it!
