Anybody else heading out in 06? I'm shooting for 4/1 but rethinking a later date after some former thru's mentioned cold is a bit issue, to push it back 15-25 days. Comments?

:elefant: www.whiteblaze.com has a list of prospective 2006 Thru-Hikers. That would be a good place to find someone that wants to begin the same time you do. :dancing2:

I cant do the whole trail (unfortunately Ive got that whole work thing going on), but I am planning on doing Springer to Fontanna Dam around the same time period. Im more worried about a quagmire on the trail as opposed to the cold and am planning on late April or early May to avoid hundreds of thru hikers. I havent set a definitive date yet, but Im sure May would be way too late for you. If I can nail it earlier, I will keep you posted. BD

My friend Lance and I are planning on heading out on or about 4/1. Date may change a little, but we should be close to then.

Hopefully see you on the trail!

I just watched Part 1 of a series on Vermont Public TV called "Appalachian Impressions". It follows several thru-hikers along the AT starting at the south end. Some good views of trail sections if you haven't been there, and some interesting comments from the hikers.

This Part ended with the hikers at about the halfway point. I'll be watching for Part 2.

The series is available on CD.

I was hoping to catch a glimpse of one or two of the regulars who post here among the hikers. Lots of younger folks...but a few old duffers. Gives me hope

By the way, Sarge...I really like the new stripes. Very imaginative!
