LNT = LDH - Leave No Trace = Leave Dogs Home

A progressive backcountry philosophy adhered to by those who realize that dogs do not belong in the backcountry.

Dogs don't belong in the back country? Why not? I'd say poorly behaved dogs don't, maybe; but all dogs? that's pretty stupid, if you ask me.

HEY!!! Just because I'm old, fat, and ugly is no reason to kick me out of the back country. Us old dogs are just as welcome in the woods as you young whippersnappers and I for one don't appreciate being called a dog.

oh wait, you mean the four legged kind???

nevermind.....:albertein

Ditto here. If dogs don't belong in a hiking/backpacking environment, then just where do they fit in? Chained to a tree in the back yard?

Backcountry by definition should be sparsely populated wilderness. If there are few people then having dog(s) should not be a problem. If there are so many people that a dog is a problem then it is not backcountry.

I DO agree that an uncontrolled, unruly dog is a nuisance, but that is true anywhere, not just the backcountry.

Ummm folks y'all do realize this thread was started in Jan 2003 by someone who only made 2 posts to the site total? Let's not start "pole vaulting over mouse turds" over here too (as Rock is fond of saying).

switching from Pole Vaulting to Separating Fly Crap From Pepper... the acronym is already taken. LDH = Lactate dehydrogenase :rolleyes2

Later Day HikerDid you mean Latter Day Hikers? They're saints. But let's not start a religious thread about hikers who don't drink coffee.
