Looking to get a new poncho.

Have investigated the Integral Designs Sil Poncho.

Seems to be a very intelligent design and useful and light.

Has anybody here used one and if so any opinions??

Thanks,
TeeDee

I have an ID sil poncho, if I were buying again I'd find one that had an extended rear section so it would cover my pack better. The hood on the ID is centered so that leaves the back of your legs uncovered when the rear of the poncho drapes over the pack.

In searching have found another Poncho by Mountain Laurel Designs:

Their Pro Poncho Tarps are larger:

5.5' X 4.5' X 9.5'

and at 9.5oz is pretty light.

Is more expensive than the ID. Also, I contacted them by email and they are about 8+ weeks behind, so there is at least a 2 month wait.

Read a reeview of their poncho/tarp. It is cut on a catenary with a seam down the ridgeline for added strength. The hood is offset towards the front for pack coverage. The hood opening is a slit rather than a hole and has a unique design for closing the hood opening. A waist bungee is included. In the one review I found, the reviewer really liked the poncho (and tarp). Also, the hood has a front visor to keep the hood out of your face and protect your face from the rain.

Thinking that I will probably go for the ML rather than the ID.

I have the ID sil-nylon extended poncho. Works great for me.
