I have a medium Alice pack with frame that I want to attach a set of Molle II shoulder straps and waist pad. Any suggestions on the best way to attach the Molle gear to the Alice pack/frame?
Thanks,
Jim

The best waistbelt and straps for an ALICE I've found are the ones from Ranger Joe's. Puttine MOLLE straps on should be simple, they go on just like the ALICE straps I would think( I may be wrong, don't have one in front of me). The waistbelt won't work without some mods, I would buy one, if I were you.

Well the ALICE has some the attachment points on it, I am pretty sure you could attach a few MOLLE items through those, but I have never tried myself.

550 cord will do it for sure.

General Jacksons, Blackhawk and Ranger Joes all have Molle straps and waist pads. Also, atstacticlegear.com is a good site for kit as well.

What are you going to put on the waist pad?

I dont carry any items there but would like to hear what you think would be good.

I wasn't going to add anything to either the straps or the belt. I was just looking for a more comfortable waist pad, and I wanted to add a sternum strap.

Good. I bought mine from Blackhawk.com "Enhanced Tactical Military RUCK Shoulder Straps" Item #SKU: 63AS01-ALL. I have used these for a couple years and really like them. I bought my waist pad from eagleindustries.com. "Waist Pad for the Alice Frame" part #AF-WPS.http://www.blackhawk.com/product_detail.asp?product_id=4957&d=

I hope these will help you.

Everyone's different

I tried the Blackhawk enhanced straps. Liked their sternum strap, but the straps themselves were way too long. If my torso was a foot longer, the straps would have worked great. The quality of the materials and construction were top notch. Ended up returning the straps.

The straps from Major Surplus and survival:

work the best for me. I like their kidney belt also:

Added the sternum strap from Brigade QuarterMaster:

http://www.actiongear.com/cgi-bin/tame.exe/agcatalog/level4s.tam?xax=12703&M5COPY%2Ectx=7084&M5%2Ectx=3008&M2%5FDESC%2Ectx=Field%20Packs%20%2D%20Army%20ALICE %2C%20Tactical%2C%20LBE%20%2D%20Load%20Bearing%20G ear%2C%20Accessories&level3%2Ectx=results%2Etam&query%2Ectx=sternum%20strap&backto=%2Fagcatalog%2Fresults%2Etam

Put a thick leather strap under the sternum strap to reduce the pressure below the threshold to where I no longer feel the strap.
