Hey Y'all,

Being somewhat of a blade freak I was wondering, since so many of y'all seem to have been in the mid east if you ever see any neat blades for sale over there or can you have that much contact with the locals?

I like khukuris and things which are forged out of truck springs and railroad rail and I was wondering if they make that sort of stuff there? Or are they too busy causing mischief:afraid:

What sort of knives do they use carry over there if y'all know? Got any pics?

And It is one of my favorites, but it isn't adaptable.
It has one major purpose, but it does it really well.

Afgan Knife or Churra also called the Khyber Knife.

A good picture:

I got a jewel-encrusted knife from one of the 'stans...Uzbekistan, IIRC. It's pretty cheap (fake jewels and kinda touristy-looking) but it made a decent souvenir for the trip.

That sort of stuff is just more crap to be sold for pennies at a yard sale by your offspring after your demise. If you have several Benchmade knives, they'll probably be smart enough to keep those, if they were raised right.

Here's a couple rough forged blades I had the guy over the hill from me make for me. They are (loosely) patterned after the picture of Nessmuk's knife in the book Woodcraft and Camping
