Cool, I thought lynx were more elusive? Looks like they didn't have any concerns at all. How far away were they?

I've only run up on 2 cats in the woods while backpacking. 1st was a little Bobcat in the Los Padres in Calif. Walked around the point of a ridge (on a trail) to find the little thing on the other side. There were 3 of us t-shirt/shorts wearing guys with x-ternal frame packs on (big shilouette); he/she was about like a house cat on steriods walking away from about 15-20ft away. It gave us a look and when it locked eyes with us, just turned it's head and sauntered down the trail and off to the downhill side.
Last one was a cougar, walked up on my ground blind while I was Bow hunting here in Colorado. Made me feel like I was carrying a switch.
Watching a housecat take care of a stray dog gave me a lot of respect for the fang/claw aspect of "wild" cats. They won't work in concert with each-other like dogs would, but one of them in a bag with you would be a handfull.
