I just bumped into this site, it has some awesome stuff for backpacking and survival. I got to try that pen sized fishing pole.

Some interesting ger on that site. Let me know how the rod/reel works out. The water purifying straw reminded me that I have one of these in my pocket survival kit. It's not for general trail use, but might just save your bacon in an emergency. I carry a couple of purification tabs to use with this straw:

Yup...that one sounds better, albeit more expensive. Think I'll switch mine out.
Just a thought...how would one go about testing one of these things? Sip from the local cow pond, then go home and wait by the medicine cabinet? :nurse:

I guess you could suck through the thing with a device from the worst patch of water ever then send it to a lab.
