View Full Version : Cool Tin - What to build?

The chai isn't that bad either.

(Image is actual size at 1024x768 on 18" monitor)

The tin is steel,
Measures 2-7/8" diameter by 4.5" tall excluding lid.
Lid is hollow, 7/8" tall, with 1/2" project out from tin.

What could it be used for?
Any way to make use of the hollow lid?

Here are some ideas for the tin itself:
#1. Fire making kit - flint, steel, char maker, char carrier, related stuff.
#2. Hobbo Stove - but with holes it could not be used for #1 above.
#3. #1 above plus a packable #2 made of ceramic wool and muffer tape.
#4. Candle lantern carrier, perhaps in addition to all of the above.

Here are some idea for the lid:
#1. Heat resistant base for Hobbo Stove.
#2. Pressurized alcohol stove, by adding a refilling screw.
#3. Burner for three wick candle stove or oil lamp stove.
#4. Perhaps all of the above.

Anyhow, I'm going to make some more tea. It's half empty.

Don't give up hope. I'm still thinking. There has got to be something good to make from it.

Thinking maybe I could carry tea in it. ;)

What does your Daughter think it might be used for? Does she have a Fire Starter/ First Aid Kit ? Maybe something for her. SS:captain:

Hey. That's a really good question.
I'll ask her. Then we'll build something.
Then we'll go for another hike. :tee:
