Those poor old bears often get bad PR, so thought these images might show that there are some good guys amongst them out there! (or at least a well fed one!) :)

Stuart Brown describes Norbert Rosing's
striking images of a wild polar bear
playing with sled dogs in the wilds
of Canada's Hudson Bay.

The photographer was sure that he was going
to see the end of his huskies when the polar bear
materialized out of the blue, as it were:

Obviously it was a well-fed Bear...

The Polar Bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs..

Kind of cool in more ways than one! (must be due to global heartwarming) ;)

Wonder if the dog is a female. My my girlfriend thinks Polar Bears are cute and cuddly too. Guess she's right. If the dog was "carrying" he and his buds would've had polar bear for supper, no doubt. SS:captain:

Pretty incredible photos.

I have a theory here. I am theorizing that this is a young polar bear (2 yrs) who has just been told by Mom to hit the road. Not accustomed to being alone it finds these dogs and plays awhile before wandering off and being a real bear.

Just my theory.

Here is a Snopes article verifying the authenticity of these photos, http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/polardog.asp.

While searching for this I found an urbanlegends article documenting a human survivor of a polar bear attack. Warning: graphic pictures of medical injuries contained. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_polar_bear_attack.htm

Like just in case you see these bears as being all cute and cuddly and stuff...

If that ain't the damndest thing . . . and the first good laugh I've had in a week! Definitely an "it has to be seen" thing.

I wonder if the gent got the bear hitched up to the sled?

This reminds me of the scene in the animated movie Finding Nemo... "Fish are FRIENDS not FOOD!" Or in this case "Dogs are FRIENDS not FOOD"...

Hopefully Mr. P. Bear doesn't fall off the wagon...
