I got a PM from Einstein that I would consider spam...
Hi,
I'm new here, how's it going?

"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things as a meaningful unity" - Albert Einstein

I sent him a PM telling him to stop spamming. I monitored his activity and he continued to PM people without responding to me, so I banned him. No posts - but apparently lots of PMs. We don't need that kind of BS.

You were just too smart for him so he avoided you.

I didn't see it as a problem.

I was going to reply, but his addy had already been banned. It seemed harmless enough, but what do I know. :)

I'm a lay buddhist, I guess he Knew he didnt need to PM me....

He was going through the entire list to PM. I imagine after seeing a couple of hacker attackes before this was one method of collecting likely targets for ID stealing. Trust me, it may look harmless, but when something looks odd, acts odd, and then purposly ignores an admin like that, no sense in taking chances again.

I agree with you. I was mostly just pointing out my naiveté.

It's ok Nightwalker, we're just gun shy on the whole hacker thing now. :)

Just looking out for you guys. It is something to be aware of. We had a bad hacker attack a while back on WhiteBlaze that started with PM spam.

But just think how embarrassed you're going to be if it turns out that the PM's actually were from a defunct German physicist, trying to contact us from the great beyond.
:banghead:

tis the season

Yeah, Einstein is spamming - I got the exact same pm from him here and also on another board I visit.
(With a name like that I think he's probably one stein short of a pair anyhow) ;)

I tried to send the following back to him, but the site blocked it:

A Buddhist orders a veggie hot dog from a street vendor. How do you want it the vendor asks? "Make me one with everthing!", he replies.:ahhhhh:

The Buddhist hands the vendor a $5 bill, and complains: "Where's my change?" to the vendor. The vendor replies; "Change comes from within!", as he walks away. :argh:

The only spam I want comes in a funny shaped can that is no good for making stoves.
