Switzerland

I hope I have selected the right place to discuss Switzerland. I went there with my wife last June and it was great. Switzerland has a reputation for being expensive, but it's possible to have a great trip there for a pretty reasonable cost.

The main places we visited were the Bernese Oberland (Eiger/Monch/Jungfrau) and Zermatt (Matterhorn). Both have an amazing selection of wonderful trails. My favorite was the Eiger Trail from Kleine Scheidegg to Alpiglen.

We had a great time in Switzerland . . . but my favorite hiking destination is still the Yan Shan mountains to the north of Beijing - the Great Wall of China!

With many northwesterners living in in the Portland metropolitan area in northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, there are a lot of us who hike equally in both states. How about combining Washington and Oregon in "Pacific Northwest Trails"? This would include almost half the PCT, the Timberline Trail around Mt. Hood, the Three Sisters loop farther south in Oregon and the Wallowas of northeastern Oregon, plus, of course, the trails around the Washington volcanoes and many others in this region.
