Not my idea, and it may have been posted before. (if so, I didn't see it)

I'm not sure it would give off enough BTUs to actually boil water for safety or to cook with, but it might melt snow in an emergency to drink. Testing required here.

I haven't been here for a long time; so, <sorry> if this has been discussed:

Made one! It works! I have been emailing my rough specs/test to Rosaleen & others. Light weight, initial burn tests showing VERY low fuel <alky> consumption and boiling 1 cup in 4 - 5 minutes.

Anyone else playing with the CFV...?

I used course woven fiberglass between 2 layers of stainless steel.

Did three test using 20ml(saturated) of denatured. Used an aluminum 2.25 cup pot

Reached a boil in 6 min. and boiled for an additional 1 min. till flame out.

Thick as 2 pennies. Actually about 3/16 now that it relaxed a bit after the 3 burns.

Holds 17ml of fuel.(20ml saturated) Will test it tomorrow maybe to see it will boil 2 cups.

It weighs 28 grams. It can be modified to make it lighter. I can use the same core material as in the StarLyte and an aluminum base instead of the ss mesh. 6 of one, half dozen of the other :)

The idea for this stove comes from 2 sources: a thread from Whitblaze.net and one from Bacpackinglight.com

I think I should name this stove the SSHTHCFE = Stainless Steel High Tech Horizontal Cappilary Force Evaporator. Maybe keep it simple, call it The Ring Of Fire.
