OK. This is what we have so far. I made a couple adjustments and so forth to help it along. K. Here it is.

The Train Wreck

In the valley, hiking over a bridge, over a beaver pond, I first laid eyes on the most irritated bear cub and sow I'd ever petted. She growled and I backed away.
But without warning she lunged at her own cub and gave him a reverse suplex, crushing his little paw. The cub limped pathetically toward the the roaring creek where a large trail sprite set some tuna down on the edge.
He was eating and quite confused.
When I finally got my underwear, I grabbed the lighter and alcohol and proceeded to drink the remains of last night's fetchings. From the bacchanalia that ensued Papa bear wondered, "what exaclty," Mama bear was doing with that backpack and beer - and why she had no appetite.

Just then I got my hammock and pulled the emergency rip cord which, naturally, malfunctioned. Before I realized what was happening, my intarwarbs died.

How could this be more ironic?
Or more poignant. . .
But I digress, for the answer lies beyond understanding.

Papa Bear wept.
The next morning I made coffee, was feeling better. . . and threw up. Existential crisis averted.
Nirvana was found - and utopiah lost.
Lost horizon found. . . and lost again.

I made some headway with the vodka and cranberry. . . it's never enough.
One is too necessary, and two - I should introduce you to my other personalities. Sybyll, Wolf, Warren, Jack and Angelina Jolie.
"Always. . . Angelina! What the frick?" - Jack approves of Angelina moreso than Sybyll and Warren.
Wolf is indifferent, grant you that. Speaking first-person psyzophrenic. . . 'I am so lost.'

Suddenly there was a large herd of wild horses at Miss Janets, stomping hikers into the loop. Hilarity ensued at a fire tower until the horses trampled Ranger Gord's Enormous Feet and left a business card for Governor Spitzer.

A a aagain. . . I digress.

Being politically savvy, and not tired. . . I called her. But the voice of the village echoed back at my vanquished soul. Exposing the emptiness, mocking the abyss.
Echoing, my soul, a siren melancholy.
Yet, LSD always makes me think. . . my problem is, I need more . . .
But I really can't stop tripping.
The music seems so far away - a rainbow slinky dripping liquid crystals. . . an afternoon delight covered in vaseline and hot wax. In sharp contrast to my usual Oil of Olay - y'all need help.
Glistening, my reflection caught smiling back in twisted recognition, a ravishing she-dino - who tames her own.
"Sorry I'm late," he said timidly as he lunged into the fray, cold feet first.

OK. A couple posts back I posted the story as we've written with just a few punctuation-ish edits.
Then I decided it was a good writing exercise (see diversion) and I tried to - well I'm not sure but here's what I came up with. So far.
No hurling rotten tomatoes at me on the trail please.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Train Wreck

In the valley, over a beaver pond bridge, I first laid eyes on the most irritated bear cub and sow I'd ever pet.
My caveat here is that sometimes I feel this story is not my own. That it belongs elsewhere. It ushers in-utero safety at first blush, to her softness. But I'm unsure if this will be meant for me.
She growled and I backed away. Without warning she lunged at her own cub, an awkward paw caught under the weight of maternal daze.
The cub limped pathetically toward the the roaring creek, no pockets for stones, a disproportionately boulderous wood sprite set at it's edge - with tuna and seven loaves. He was eating and quite confused.
"Why this next to this and these," the sprite lilted into the water, gesturing about to the trees. "Why you there," he spoke turning to look at me for the first time.
And as he looked, I looked. . . not at him, myself.
He has a crisper angle for sure - he sees but one image. Right?

They do collect from time to time, these strangers that know me. And always leaving me to stumble into their midst as a dive in Chagrin Falls. . . and a limp in the warmth of the sun. And a time not of introspection, but modesty, humility . . . and soil as pride.
We've got a number of 'those dreams.' Late for school, forgot my locker combo, about to get punched by a zygote that burns too quick, forgot my homework - forgot my clothes.

But for the bears. Where is Papa during all this?

After I found my underwear, I grabbed the lighter and alcohol and proceeded to drink the remains of last night's fetchings. Far as it were, the path we've traveled this day, a plethora of Gods leading us their way, fetchings still feed the soul and slake our mortal thirst.
And lighters, well. . . they light.
Things can't be dark unless there is light, right? As such there must be light, I can use to step through another door. The wolf with nocturnal eyes. He opens the door before me. This - unlit.

From the bacchanalia that ensued Papa bear wondered "what exaclty" Mama was doing with that backpack, that beer - and why she had no appetite.
Why she has no appetite. How could she not feel hunger? Why do I gorge and not know the touch of hunger? What is it that sits in place of my own?
Why I ask myself now in this situation are my arms coated with Mama's fur, too soft to even touch, so I can't. But I know someone who can.
She can.

I clutched my hammock , a diminutive victory for the thrust of oblivion and pulled the emergency rip cord which, naturally. . . malfunctioned. Before I realized what was happening my intarwarbs had expired. Such is the deflation of increments each day when one of these friends proves as false again, unreliable and still so beautiful. But for all our bluster, Mama always keeps tumblin the other way, oblivious to our reach.
How could this be more ironic?
Or more poignant . . .
But I digress, for the answer lies beyond understanding. At least in these lives.

Papa weeps in the corner around the corner. . . around another.
And on the rarest occassions, this brings me sleep.

Morning woke anew the truth of shattered glass. I made coffee, was feeling better. . . and threw up. Existential crisis averted.
Nirvana found - and utopiah lost.
Lost horizon sighted. . . lost again.
A paradox lucidity damps the noise.

I made some headway with the vodka and cranberry. It's never enough. One is too necessary, and two?
Why stop there? I drink them in again, Sybyll, Wolf, Warren, Jack and Angelina Jolie.
'Always . . . Angelina! What the frick?'
Jack approves of Angelina. Moreso than Sybyll or Warren anyway.
Wolf is indifferen't, I'll grant you that. But we all love vodka. And cranberry.
And Merlot.
It always seems to be a big deal. Even here where assuredly nothing in particular truly matters, we're all wound up about it all as we fist-fight to agree. A six voiced solo.
Speaking first-person psyzophrenic. . . 'I am so lost.'

A large herd of wild horses at Miss Janets, stomping hikers into the loop, (but they won't find their way to the bears, there's a certain homogeny - and direction - to loops). Hilarity ensued at a fire tower until the horses trampled Ranger Gord's Enormous Feet and left a business card for Governor Spitzer. Always more of the real world shadowing imagination. Or maybe, simply, images. Too often as opinions. Again. . . I digress.

Being politically savvy, and not tired. . . I called her. But the voice of the village echoed back to my vanquished soul.

Glistening, my reflection caught smiling back in twisted recognition, a ravishing she-dino, one who tames her own.
"Sorry I'm late," he said timidly as he lunged into the fray, cold feet first.

Or more poignant. . .
But I digress, for the answer, like the Event Horizon, lies beyond understanding.

Before anyone could stop him he picked up a rusty tin brandishing it menacingly. Dino sprang forward biting the toes that feed her.
Realizing her mistake she bit a hand belonging to the first northbound hiker. Startled, Stumpknocker promptly pulled up his arm and whacked a missed opportunity from the jaws of the beast.
Another living metaphor, which reminds me. . .
The beast cried, dropped. . . and died.
Somewhat remorseful, she gathered some moss, made chipmunk cheeks and played Godfather - making an offer.
The. . . the f f-first t-t-time sh-she had noticed the beefcake. However, being a vegetarian, jumped the fence.
"Get the cow!!"

Eating my breakfast, the cow looks lonely and forlorn.
Dino shares her newly found beefcicle. Cheeseburger and pickles and bovine encephalitis - with the other trail sprites in frenzied flight for the cliffs.
In foggy luminescence the cow. . . bear . . . both mesmerized by the setting mist.
Start to bellydance for the Dragon -the ritual tatooing continued late, for the leprechaun King - hungover from St. Patrick's. You know it. . .
. . . staggered over to the empty keg, recalcitrant eyes issuing looks that kill the faintest hearts, while the AT called to us, while we long. . . and we short.
Even come unglued.
