How do you do it?

I've done a bit of drying - jerky, fruit, some sauces, etc - in our oven, but I am now the proud owner of a dedicated dehydrator. When combined with the vacuum sealer and some little O2 absorber packets for longer term storage, I think the sky is the limit.

One problem I have encountered with my previous home dehyd food is the reconstitution time. A lot of people use naglene bottles for this so they rehydrate their food on the trail as they walk. I recently came across a supermarket item which promises to become the perfect reconstitution vessel for the ruckmonkey on the move -

these come 1 litre, 750ml or 500ml sizes and are available in supermarkets.

By neccessity, these are watertight and pretty tough. I think they are perfect for the stated use of reconstituting home dried slop.

How many nalgene pots do you get that come with pears in chocolate sauce, hmmmm....?

Excellent idea. I've been using empty peanut butter jars for this - somewhat similar and available in multiple sizes.
