I'm making my own poncho tarp combo like what Rock has listed here http://www.hikinghq.net/gear/poncho_tarp.html.

I made up my own diagram based on Rocks including the approximate centerline length and angles. I am wondering, is this pretty much similar to what you get if you buy from moonbow (same dimensions etc)? Is the moonbow design a parallelagram or a rectangle? (I'll be using on my HH).

With the centerline being the seam, it looks like I'll need about 8 yards to complete the job...Is this the same with your experience?

Looks about right, but I didn't make mine so I am not sure how many yards it took.

Is Silnylon lighter than Tyvek or is Tyvek lighter than Silnylon, anyone know?

Although I don't have any number to back myself up, I'd have to guess that sil (most used is 1.1 oz/square yard) is probably a good bit lighter than Tyvek.

Tyvek seems to run 1.7 to 1.8 oz per square yard from what i've googled.
