I had a black rat snake and a copperhead fall off of a cliff and land at my feet while on a day hike. I saved the copperhead from being supper but he looked like he was done for.

found this little guy crossing the trail in VA last fall. It's the coolest snake I've ever seen.

Those are a pretty little grass snake and if I hadn't seen them in VA before I went to RVN I'd have a different view of the bamboo viper that lived there. I couldn't get excited about "MR Step-an-a-half" like everyone else did. They look identical except the jaw line of the viper. Only about 12-16" long and the same color as new bamboo. Can't count the times I chopped them out of the over-cover to make a hootch or set up a hammock. Not aggressive like a cottonmouth or copperhead. Didn't actually try to pet one.

Was the bear "blowing" when you took this picture? Looks like it is

He was huffing and pounding his front paws on the ground. I didn't stick around very long after that shot

This pic is from July, 2007, just north of Deep Gap in GA. I walked by the log, then Scott said, "Dad!" Nice pic of 2 timber rattlers in different phases... In this pic, the snakes are about 10 ft behind Scott - so about wrist thick.....
