I've put up the page for ordering the guide. If you would like to pre-order a copy go ahead and do so. I expect them in before the end of the month.

Yea, I was in a hurry to go to the store and spaced it off. Here is the link to the order page:

http://bmtguide.com/order.html

I spent all day yesterday clearing trail then rewarded myself with a night in the woods down on Slickrock creek (with cigars and bourbon).

Here are pics of the blowdown I cleared and what remains now. There is PLENTY of firewood down by those campsites now.

Did Springer to Ocoee in 2005 before the middle section was complete. Looking forward to Ocoee River to Davenport Gap starting the end of May before the heat gets too ferocious.

Another copy ordered.

Thanks Rock, this is an exceptional service that you've provided for the community.

And since I've been displaced from California, I've put my JMT plans on hold, so this might be a great substitute. At the very least, I plan to do some section hikes on the BMT this summer.

Hey Joker, there is a JMT trail in the East - and the BMT shares the trail with it for a few miles. So you can do both.

You'll love the trail. It felt surprisingly remote for an Eastern trail.

A great regional trail and definitely more of a wild feel than the AT.

ps..as Rock said, you can still do part of the JMT. :D

I just got word from my publisher. They should be off the press around a week from now (most likely the 29th) and in the mail to me directly. Guesstimation is I will have them around the 3rd and I'll get them out the same time to ya'll. 2-3 day shipping via Priority mail.

As far as I know this time line is only bad for two BMT thru-hikers planning to start on the 1st. Anyone else that has ordered a copy or two and need theirs before then, please let me know - I will find a solution!

Thanks Mags.

Remote sounds great. One of my favorite spots to hike out in California was a state park named Henry Coe SP. Once you got 3-4 miles in you weren't likely to encounter another person until you decided to come back out. I loved it.

So if the BMT is the "road less travelled" that sounds just great. On the other hand if I happen to run into any of you, be sure that I'll be carrying a flask of single malt Scotch.

Granted, I hiked early in the season, but I saw TEN people on the trail the whole time (I don't count the roads or nearby "walk in for five minutes and take a photo" places). A couple breaking camp just near Springer Mtn, 4 trail maintainers out for the day, and four guys backpacking into the Smokeys less than a mile from the the trail head.

As I said, a remote feeling trail. Other seasons may be busier (esp in the Smokeys), but probably nowhere as busy as the AT!

For others...

Some folks have asked to be able to send in orders instead of using PayPal. So I added a PO Box for orders on the order page.

I had a stretch where I didn't see another person for about 5 days. I had another stretch where I would have gone without seeing anyone for 5 days, but Tipi Walter was waiting for me at Whigg Meadow.
