Called a shuttle service and outfitters for the Smoky Mountains. They said that crampons or yak traks would be a good thing to have for the next couple of weeks. Section hiking the AT from Newfound gap north. Any ideas and where to get them.

I would use Katoola MicroSpikes instead of YakTrax myself but ymmv

as to where to get them - I got mine through Amazon.com

screw some hex screws into the lugs on the bottom of your boots.

If your shuttle is taking you into the park, then stopping off at Little River in Maryville is one option. I know they have them. Also probably is the Happy Hiker in G-burg and Smokey Mountain Outfitter in G-Burg

I think that crampons would be a bit overkill, get yaks, spikes, or put screws in your shoes
