Looking for suggestions for a pee bottle. The Pepsi "widemouth" liter bottle is not quite wide enough. And a lemonjar is too bulky. The perfect bottle would be: lightweight; liter size; thin (Pepsi) versus bulky; adequate opening diameter; decent cap/top closing strength; ez to identify by shape or color (can't find Mountain Dew widemouth anymore)- you guys know what I mean.

The less you have to concentrate and be carefull (mental alertness) the sooner you can fall back to sleep.

It would also be easier to drink out of. . .

Have you tried a gatorade bottle? It's a little bigger opening than the Pepsi bottles.

I use one and it works fine so long as I think about baseball.

I use one and it works fine so long as I think about baseball.I use Gators as my water bottle as they are a bit stronger and have a different feel than a Pepsi. Could reverse their usage - that's one simple solution.

Another thought is a Ziploc, until you think about it.

I just compared a Gator to a Pepsi - not much of an inner diameter difference. Just as well, I didn't want to give up drinking lemon-lime Gator.

Scrounching through the kitchen, a large plastic vitamin container looked promising but I now need to add "common household turnover item" to the criteria.

recently noticed in the supermarket - they are now selling fruit like peaches etc in a plastic bottle that looks a little like a mason jar - opening just over 2 inches in diameter

I was considering it as a winter use item for a hot water bottle instead of the Nalgene that I typically use.

This method is from my days in Michigan, shivering so badly on trips in the middle of the night. Hydration and peaceful sleep is what I need today. The fruit container looks promising.

Found it - Walmart Great Value dry roasted peanuts 1 lb. At only 0.3 oz heavier than a Gator or Pepsi, this puppy can hold 28 ozs and its top is luxuriously twice as wide. Now who wants some peanuts while I go back to sleep?

Use a Nalgene.... if your stuff won't fit in a Nalgene....well you may be in the wrong business.

That's another benefit of the hammock: You can just hang it over the side and then go back to sleep. :ahhhhh:

(Sorry, couldn't resist the requisite hammock swerve...)

No! If you use this technique you would hang your pack from your suspension and put your boots near the head end of the hammock. You could also pick a spot on a slight slope and pee down hill from your gear. Think, man, think!

And totally unrelated but somehow on topic:

"Pecan" is pronounced "Puh - Cahn"! Not "Pee - Can".

Pee Cans are what you find underneath beds at hospitals.

Those pancake mixes in a shaker container are good. After making pancakes, clean it out well. It has wide mouth and tight screw top. Good for one to two pees. Can hook onto pack with carabiner.

You can always cut a 1 gallon milk jug in half, squat over it make sure it stays out of the way and empty the next morning. You can also use that half milk jug to wash dishes.

Another good reason to have a shelter with a large vestibule or bigger than needed tarp over your hammock.
