Has anyone constructed a nylon tarp or rain fly?
Any tips you might share? I found a place locally where many types of nylon can be had for 2.50 or 3 bucks a yard, and at that price , I figured it's cheap enough to play around on a simple project... (hopefully simple anyway)

What kind of waterproofing does the nylon have? Silicone inpregnated nylon(silnylon) usually costs around $6 a yard, where as polyurithane (spellcheck)coated nylon usually runs around $5 a yard. If you cant identify between the two, first put a little water on the fabric if u can. If it beads up, then its coated. Then feel for the thickness of the fabric. If it feels VERY thin, kind of like paper thickness, and has little lines of fabric running about every 1\5 of an inch, then it is probably silnylon. If there is a definate coated side and uncoated side, then it is PU coated nylon. Other people should have more knowledge than i do.
