Adrianna and I did a short hike on the Beaver Meadows loop in Rocky Mountain National Park. A short, but enjoyable hike on a Sunday afternoon. Widflowers and wildlife abounded. And only two people were spotted!

The recent fires in New Mexico and Arizona caused the horizon to be smoky and the air to have a whiff of smoke.

But the abundant early season of wildflowers of larkspur, golden banner and pasque flower were amazing to say the least!

Along the way we saw elk...

Along the way, we saw exclosures put up by the park to protect the riparian habitat from the over-population of elk:

I wish it was that smoky around here. You can't see that far on a good clear day around here. Hazy lazy days.
You suck fo true.

Being serious, it refers to Longs Peak.

Look like a beaver climbing to the summit as seen from the meadow. If you look in the first shot it you can kinda make it out...

Here's a better shot closer up from the Intertubes...

The "nose" is the point just below the summit and the rounded part is the tail.

Oh I know..I just think it is a cool bit of local lore.

It was a big landmark for the native tribes in the area.

Just remember, if you got a big beaver, you need a lot of wood.

They could stretch things. Like Sleeping Ute. I can go with it after it was explained to me but I never would have come up with it. Pretty good beergut for a waahoop.
