a new ruck is being put together in Alabama - see: http://alaruck.hikealabama.org/

timing looks to be a good alternative to the Gathering - at least for this year (too far to drive up to North Adams, MA)

And Alabama is closer?

I got a personal invite to this thing. Its not like a soruck. They keep repeating 'family friendly' and pot luck. I'll be down that way that time of year, so I may drop by and see whats up.

What I found funny was on their site, their definition of a ruck...

And Alabama is closer?

well not for me but for many people active on this site it would be closer

And they are trying to cram a lot of stuff into a little time... noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday?

its a startup - startups are always ahhhh confused for the first time

still it has possibilities for developing into a good ruck

I suspect the noon Sat to noon Sun has more to do with camping check-in/out than anything real

Well then maybe I need to go and straighten their asses out!

Too far south for me. I was hoping maybe Cheaha State Park, which is only half the distance.

yeah its a ways down there in LA but look on the bright side - you can always bag the "family friendly" ruck and head for the Flora-Bama.

Good idea. Flora-Bama in October = semi-cool weather & few tourists = "the bright side"!

How about Tampa???

Might as well go down to Venice. The beaches aren't as crowded.

Unless you like old men in Speedo's, stay away from Venice!

It depends on the amount of back hair.......

Nothing like seeing a gorilla wearing a fur coat coming at you......

I wouldn't know. Gorillas are pretty rare here in South Texas. Old men in speedos are a common sight though. Almost as common as roadrunners.

need more coyotes to take care of both problems
