View Full Version : Highest calorie food by volume/weight?
What is the highest caloried food by volume/weight?
I have seen ads for a bar that has 2400 calories. I don't see how this can be. Bars are less than 100g and if fat is 9 calories per gram the most calories a bar could have is 900.

This web site has a nice list of foods and their calories/weight ratio.

Oil beats everything. I doubt a bar could have 2400 calories, unless it is the size of my arm LOL.
Thanks for the chart. That's exactly what I was looking for.
I'm surprised that sugar isn't listed.

Obviously my marketing scheme for my new Chunk-o-Lard bar is taking off. :) A 2400 calorie bar would have to be pretty heavy; I think 9 calories per gram is about as much as you can get, and that's with 100% fat.
Good calorie/nutrition site at http://www.calorie-count.com/ for comparing different foods. Sugar (700 calories per cup) actually has a lot less calories than fats or oils (average of 1800-1900 calories per cup).
