If you don't mind the weight of the 1 Lb tank (Coleman), Kovea makes an adapter to convert the canister stove to propane.
One end screws on the propane tank, the other end screws on the stove or lantern. There is a valve in the adapter so
that gas will not flow if you remove the stove. There is also a screw to adjust the pressure.
It would be good for cold weather camping. They are available on EBAY.

Would this have worked with Kanga's stove when it wouldn't work with that fuel can she brought?

The adapter works, and works well, but boy is that thing heavy, and of course the propane cylinder is heavy. I working with a guy to try to find a lighter weight alternative in terms of the adapter.

400g cylinders can also be used with that adapter (the type of cylinders you can get at a hardware store for a propane torch), but they're not all that much lighter.

Well, I have a CIB on my upper left arm and I have an indian thing on my ankle. My younger son wanted to have matching tattoos on our ankles. Neither tattoo is ...um...kinky.
