This will come as no surprise to anyone, but I want to pass on my thanks to Ron Haven for his help today.

I skillfully managed to slide down the slight hill coming into Mooney Gap and nail a tree almost dead center. I was there to pick up a gaggle of hikers seeking to get out of the weather and ended up needing help myself. I called Ron and told him of the event and he quickly arranged shuttles for all of the hikers and hooked me up with a tow truck to get my car into Franklin where it could be evaluated and taken to the appropriate repair facilty. Words are of course inadequate, but as I've had reinforced over the last couple of weeks. There are some really good people in our little community and Ron is always someone you can count on when the chips are down.

Thanks Ron

OK, cell phones may make weenies, but the point is that there are people you can count on. Exhibit A, Ron.

Or anyone's. I can think of a few times I've left him a message. On-line or in-person is the only way to communicate with him.

I agree with Mac. That would keep me out too.
Thought that smoking was now not permitted in bars and restaurants in Virginia. I can't believe Dot's would ignore a state ordinance!

When FL enacted the statewide ban, it had some exemptions... if the bar revenue is from more than X% (30% I think) from food, then they must follow the ban. If its truly just a bar and serves only drinks a minimal food, they could still smoke inside.

Somebody told me they could charge a "membership fee", call themselves a club, and be exempted. Don't know if there's any truth to that. I sure don't miss going out to eat and leaving a place smelling like I smoked a pack of Lucky's.

I know that's one way that a strip "club" used to get around a nudity ban. I've heard that loophole has been closed here though.
