When I first got my hearing aids it was nice hearing things that I hadn't hear in a lot of years. Then I re-heard how obnoxious birds and some people can be. I have no idea why restaurants think that playing music is a good thing. All it does is add more noise to the din. I take my hearing aids out as I go into those hell hole cacophony nightmares. If I need to hear anything Daisy will tell me. I think the only really useful thing the hearing aids do for me is let me hear rattle snakes.

Stalking bears, where else would I be :DWhy waste all that time walking? Just make camp, hang a bear bag in the middle then unfold a camp chair under it while cooking bacon and eating sardines.

Damn near almost true story: Once during bear season I walked into Hawk Mtn shelter, in fact it was the first time I'd ever been to Hawk Mtn shelter, and met a group frying a couple pounds of bacon, sardine cans scattered all over the place and some serious looking firearms nearby.

I was ok with that - I thought they should get a medal for public service. I also kept walking.

yeah I hiked it maybe 10 or 11 years ago - it was OK but I think it would have been better in the spring - more wildflowers - it did have some ups and downs as one walked along the river so in that sense it was better than the typical flat MI hike - the trail was mainly sandy and the walking on the sand tended to give me a couple hot spots on the balls of my feet.

Thanks dog. I'll sleep better tonight.

I didn't care to get into a P contest with...the fire haired beauty, with knife upon her hip.

Let me know if you get the Ilse Royal job. I come up and see you. Hopefully we can get together for a hike this year.

Here is a better perspective...

Hey fellows :)
I got a little thirsty today and decided that I would like a few beers for the evening :D...
And go to the closest and only little 'country store' between us and town which is an 1 1/2 hours away. It's a 2 hour or better 'roundtrip just to the store!
Here is a bit of a photo journal of my little trip...
I hope you enjoy :)

ELK on the way out

I highly doubt that you or anyone else on this forum has ever been out of their backyard!

Oh well... My 'backyard' is wilderness'

I live where you would be afraid to walk through.

I've been clueless, all along here.

But, I do know anyone can upload some pictures, and proclaim it is their home ground.

Coming to a public web forum, looking for "Introductions", and then essentially bragging, about where you live through photos posted; grotesque.

I was wrangling 6 horses, 1 mule and 2 fishermen/elk hunters, and guiding them in the Bob Marshall at 15. 1960's, when it did not have a trail.
Backyard enough?

There are a few on here who have walked a bit too.
