Saturday we will be doing brush work between Thunder Rock and Big Frog Mountain. Link up at 0830 at Thunder Rock CG. It is wilderness so it is all hand tools.

Sunday we will be doing work on the Sycamore Branch sections of the BMT between Tellico River Road and Mud Gap. Link up time and location to follow. This will be done using chainsaws and brush cutters.

I'm thinking of camping somewhere in the Thunder Rock area Friday night. But not at Thunder Rock - the traffic noises there are way too much for getting sleep.

if I don't end up on the island this weekend I'll come over Saturday afternoon and help out Sunday.

I would be there Saturday, but I'm home sick today recovering from bronchitis, so it might be a bad idea.

Rock, you're welcome to stay here Friday night. We have a guest bed and a guest hammock (ENO) inside the house and three good pairs of hammock trees in the yard. You could stay here and drive the half hour to Thunder Rock on Saturday morning.

That might be the ticket. I was thinking of getting close on Friday but haven't decided exactly where to camp, so that would save me some looking. I plan on having my younger son with me, and maybe my older son if he isn't working or something like that. Saturday we are staying with one of the maintainers at his place in Tellico Plains so we don't have a lot of driving to do to get back there for chainsaw work.

I also need to go check that trail we fixed to make sure all that recent rain didn't undo the work we put into it. If you can beat me too it in the next week or so, I would love the get a report and some pictures of how it is looking.

That's a possibility if my lungs are feeling better. It's a pretty flat stretch so I could manage it fairly easily. Maybe hike in from Reliance this time. I'll let you know as the weekend nears.

Looks like it is just me and Creek Hopper. The hippie got a job working as a counselor at a in-patient place for adolescents and won't be available. But that is a good thing, I'm proud of him.

Sunday we will most likely be working from Mud Gap out to Wigg Meadow. Sunday night I'll be home getting ready for work at o-dark stupid Monday.

We will have chainsaws. You want to run a brush cutter? Mudd Gap: https://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=35.324667,-84.032836&hl=en&sll=35.324124,-84.031763&sspn=0.011082,0.022724&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=16&t=m&z=16

what time?

We plan to link up at the visitor center in Tellico Plains at 0900 if you know where that is. That is probably the better place to join up in case plans change.

Tellico Plains yes, the visitor center no. Isn't there a Hardees or something by the gas station? Is a brush cutter like a weed whacker? I've got a Sears weed eater with a cruciform blade attachment.

Its near Hardee's. That brush cutter will work if you want to bring it.

OK, 9 at Hardees.

Now that I am back on my computer, here is the location to the visitor center. If you can find Hardees it isn't a challenge: https://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=35.367124,-84.297323&hl=en&sll=35.366166,-84.296384&sspn=0.002769,0.005681&t=h&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=18&z=18
