The shipment of the 2014-15 BMT Thru-Hikers Guides (c) hit tomorrow. Household 6 approved putting up the new order page so we can start taking advance orders and ship them when they come in this week. I just uploaded the new front page image to the BMT Guide website: http://bmtguide.com/

Will you have these at the Fools' Bash?

If I get there I will. Bob Ruby of the BMTA may be representing us at the Bash this year. IF the BMTA represents even without me they should have the guide.

Regina Reiter, "Mssng Lnk". She is the person that attempted to hike the BMT in all four seasons during one year. She had to make a second go to get the winter hike completed as the first winter she tried it weather forced her off. She is 2000 miler, a ridge runner for the AT in Virgina (or was for a while), and finished the PCT the same day Jester did. You can actually see her in the background of some of his footage at the northern Terminus.

Anyhow, she is a really interesting person and had a good photo of herself crossing the infamous ford. So this year I decided to put her on the cover. Fit in with the whole bypass theme I was going with this year in the guidebook. In 2016 I'm thinking with all the trail maintenance going on that maybe a cover shoot of maintainer(s).

I met Regina the first year I hiked the AT up to Fontana Dam....then I got on the AT. Tex and I stayed a night at the Harris's house and Regina was there. Regina got a re-supply package while I was there and sat with her as she opened it. It was just bags of different color powder. She doesn't eat food...she eats powder mixed with water. She's hiked a long way on that stuff so I guess it works.

I think she makes most of that herself. John (her hiking partner on the winter hike) hiked with her through the Sierras and said their food was basically a bear canister full of some sort of kibbles for humans that was supposed to sustain them through the high country without getting down for resupply. He said it was not a good idea to try and live off that.

I've eaten some nasty food in my day but I would not have the nerve to eat what she eats.

Guidebooks arrived today! Orders that have been placed will go out as soon as possible due to weather. Currently have around 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground and it hasn't stopped snowing yet.
