Do any of you younger types (younger than, say, Superman) know of a battery charger which could charge AA or AAA batteries powered from a USB source? I tried a search on Amazon and was overwhelmed by the responses.:afraid:
Thanks,
John Pickett

BTW, I realize younger than Superman means everyone else on the site. He's even older than Tinman who's older than me; and I'm older than dirt!

The good news is that I know the answer to your question.
The bad news is that I'm disqualified from answering it due to age.

I've used a Goal Zero USB charger before. They work great. The solar panel is a plus to have as well if you're not near a computer

I've got one of these and it works for me when I need it. It works with Enloop rechargeable or NiCad batteries of other brands.

Well, I finally got around to buying a USB AA charger from a company called "Sunjack". Only afterwards did I find it wouldn't work with a power source greater than 500 milliamps. I wanted a charger which would let me charge from a LiIon battery pack which generates 1 or 2 amps to charge a phone. Anyone know of a USB to MiniUSB cable with a (resistor?, dongle? whatsit?) that will step down the current to 500 ma? Or should I get the GoalZero charger?

He must have a pretty long extension cord.

What does he do---push the truck to the top of the hill and generate electricity as he rolls downhill in neutral?

Get an InstaBoost. Lowes carries them. About $60, were over $100. Comes with a USB port and can be used to jumper a car or pickup. Comes with the necessary cables to jumper car or pickup.

Found an interesting gadget by GoalZero which automatically regulates the current so (for instance) I can power the Sunjack AA Battery charger with my LiON battery bank. Previously the charger simply wouldn't work because the battery bank was supplying too much current.
