Iíve been meaning to post something about this trip since Oct 2014, now here it is almost April 2015, I guess itís never too late. I hiked with Smokestack and Sgt. Rock from Big Creek on the North end of GSMNP to the Smokemont CG. We camped the first night at Mt Sterling, next morning I climbed the fire tower to watch the sunrise, Sgt. Rock headed back to BC while Smokestack and I hiked on to Enlow Creek to camp the second night, I hate camping near water. Third day we hiked on to Smokemont arriving early after noon. There arenít too many views on this section the trail was fairly easy yet full of ankle rollers on the sections shared by horsesÖoh thereís a few long climbs but nothing technical. No bears, one wild hog and thatís about it. I used Stg. Rocks Benton MacKaye Trail Guide and highly recommend it.

You know, if you keep it up, you might make a decent photographer one day. Just kidding, those are great images. You can smell the forest in that second one (the really green one).

It was like that all three days, glad you could join us.

I know that was a pretty section getting close to the summit of Mt Sterling on the north side. I expected to see the gnome in photo #5 peeking out from behind one of the moss covered rocks. :wavey:
