It's finally warm enough to water hunt!
Got in the creek and tested out the underwater features of my camera(let me know what you think), went kayaking with the wife and dad and did some detecting. Hope you enjoy.

I don't think I've ever seen a turtle that small. Cool.

Which metal detectors do you recommend?

It really depends on what kind of detecting you want to do and price range. I like the AT PRO because it has VDI numbers and I can get in the water and the rain can't ruin my hunting.

Yes, I would want to go in streams as well as dry land. When my younger son was about ten or twelve I had bought a cheap radio shack detector. He wanted to follow the under the chairlift at a local ski area. We started off using the metal detector but soon found that there was so much change laying on the ground the metal detector was slowing us down. I am in NH and have been told that gold gets washed down our mountains and collects in pools. I don't know if that is true but it sounds like a fun thing to explore on a hot summer day. We also have many old mills...including one at the edge of my property that could be explored.

That's the one. But I will add that if you're more interested in finding small pieces of natural gold that Garrett has an AT Gold as well. I think it's better for prospecting but I've never used one. The Pro would be perfect for old mills and stuff like that.

Don't worry, she didn't have kids willingly.
