So since Casio introduced the ProTrek 3500 series I fell in love. Who would not want a watch that could plot your trek, tell you that incoming storm was heading your way and help you not get lost. Also it's solar! Now, it has always been out of my price range. So I drooled and ooggled over pics of the different models they kept producing. Then this past Christmas that lady that for some reason I haven't figured out how to run off yet surprised me, she purchased not just the watch I have been looking at, but the newest model!

First day of ownership the barometer alarm notified me 28 minutes before it started raining. That is cool. Now you have to turn it on every 24 hours due to it taking a pressure reading every few minutes, this will run down the power in the battery. Remember it is solar powered. The altimeter from the points I have hiked so far in Tom Sawyer and Jefferson Memorial Forest have been accurate to within 10ft. Not bad for a watch I say. The compass degrees seem to reflect my Garmin. The watch just looks freaking BA to me. So far I'm digging the tech. This would have been something fun to play around with while on guard duty for sure. More to follow as time goes on. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170111/d72ff70778befef279d09899956fdcc2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170111/384d8808400ac849bb64b61d5d096d58.jpg

Dang. Christmas was on the 28th this year. No wonder I got funny looks on the 25th.

So, let me get this straight: It's solar powered. So, if it doesn't come on, it must be raining?

Jk, it's a cool watch.

I'm curious why it must be turned on every 24 hours. Is that to reboot? Why?

The barometer alert alarm needs to be turned on is all. The watch itself runs continuously. That feature has the barometer taking measurements very 2 minutes, which sucks power. With it being solar powered, it is set up that way to be energy efficient. Also you don't need that everyday.

I was a very good boy this year. Or a very naughty one ;-)

So here is a shot. The brick in the background is of UofL campus. As you can tell it's within stone throw. backhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170112/fdbe42709d5c08b9de7ad811b062f6d7.jpg

Here is the readings at 1415. As you can see the barometer is fairly accurate for something worn on the wrist. Hell those numbers are for airplanes so I think it is safe to say it GTG for excursions.

That's 325 feet above the sea level you set. It runs off the altimeter

Does it work in Spanish? That is very important to Superman.

Va in Spanish is "go". When Chevrolet marketed the Nova in Central and South America, sales were poor. Nova translates as "no go" in Spanish.

Month out update. I've been wearing it everyday. It's held up to the rigors of the campus and my occupation. The few little "hikes" I have been able to squeeze in during my schedule have been a learning curve. Just like any new tech, you need to use it before you need to depend on it. The trek feature will be helpful once I am able to remember how to fully operate it without looking up the manual.

I had a new Nova in 1970. It would stall about 20 times until it went .5 mile and then it would run fine for the rest of the day. Same thing every day. I took it back to the dealer and they couldn't fix it. I hated that no go car.

I'm curious if you can alter the 2 minute update feature. I would be happy with a 30 minute window.

Are you referring to the atomic time update? That is automatic to try six times a night. You can force an update whenever you want, if it hasnt been updating.
