SGT Rock asked me to make him a "wallet" out of some sil-nylon that we had lying around the house. He plans to test it out when he takes the boys out hiking this weekend.

Basically, I made a sort of envelope (a pocket with a flap, picture below) for him to put his money, ID, etc... in to keep it from getting wet in his pocket. Hopefully this will work the way he hopes. I'm sure he'll be willing to give us a full report upon his return...;)

Howdy Dixicritter ,nice looking wallet (beats the duct tape wallet thats fer sure!!) I do have one suggestion though, since silnylon is very slippery it might be a good idea to put something on the outside of it(not sure what) to keep it from slipping out of a pocket and getting lost. Ive heard of putting some seam sealer on silnylon to make it less slippery ,that might work. just a suggestion anywhoo. I bet its lighter than the duct tape wallet to!! Streamweaver

I think it weighs 3 grams.

I have a zipper pocket on my shorts.

 You mean you haven't weighed it yet???? I may faint from shock now. ;)

Streamweaver, that's not a bad idea. We talked about it this morning and are thinking about something like that for when he's using shorts that don't have a zipper pocket. Although it might add a gram to it...LOL.

Great idea... I am thinking of other uses... map case?

As far as a trail wallet, I have been using a ziplock sandwich bag; ... this thread has me thinking! :-)

When I hike/climb, I drive to the spot, park the car, and hide the keys for the car under a log or something and leave my cash/ID in the glove box. I do this so that if I die or get injured on the climb, people can get to my car and get ID etc....
