I have all kinds of trouble with fuel bottles.
Soda bottles are too large for my uses and the smaller bottles leak like crazy.
I started to use a ronsonal (or Zippo) lighter fluid bottle (small) it seals tight as can be and has a flip up nozzle for pouring.
I really like bottles with flip up nozzles. I have HDPE bottles, which seem to be the most resilliant to alcohol (I've had one filled with alchy for over a year-still going strong). Not to mention, that the flip up nozzle is TOTALLY resistant to pressure put on the bottle. Again, another long term instance in which I had a bottle keep its seal for over 6 months...thats why I sell them!:P

A good closing mechanism, imho, is the one used on some shampoo and washin-up liquids. (Heinz EZ squirt ketchup uses it too). I can't tell what the type would be called in English, but you twist the conical top to open and twist back to close. Inside is a stationary cone and the outer, threaded part, has a hole at the point. The long nozzle makes aiming easy, but I haven't tested them with alcohol. Maybe someone has?

You're right, they are a good mechanism. I looked into using a bottle like that but can't find any with a small enough profile. Even the small mustard bottles that are sold here in the U.S. are too bulky for my tastes.
I'm not aware of any shampoos in the U.S. that use that type of top. Mostly it's mustard. plus I worry about a bottle with any kind of external release accidently opening in my pack. If there is the slightest chance of a mishap it will happen to me. LOL

Once. But I'm happy with the Zippo/ Ronsonal fuel bottle. It was designed to hold corrosive and easily evaporated fuel and is very slim (easy to pack)
